Challenge Description

What are we doing? 

Knocking balls closer and further away from the target. This is to simulate knocking your own throws towards the target or knocking your opponent’s throws further away from the target.

Where should we do it? 

Anywhere indoors or outdoors with a flat playing surface (grass, sidewalk, hallway, etc.). For more of a challenge, be sure to have more space! Be aware of your surroundings and make sure there are no windows nearby or something you can break.  

What do we need? 

  • A flat playing surface (grass, sidewalk, hallway, etc.),
  • 2 balls that can fit in your hand (bocce ball, tennis ball, sock ball, baseball, etc.).  One ball will be the throwing ball, and one ball will be the target ball
  • 2 markers (pylon, shoe, bottle, etc.)
  • Appropriate footwear. 

How should we set-up? 

Place the two markers (pylons) 20 feet away from each other.  Marker # 1 is where you will throw from, Marker #2 is the target marker. 

Round 1: Place one ball (target ball) 5 feet away from the target marker in any direction.  

Round 2: Place one ball (target ball) 2 feet away from the target marker in any direction.  

How do we do it? 

Round 1 

  1. Stand at marker #1 with your ball ready to throw. 
  2. Underhand toss your ball towards the target ball placed 5 feet from the marker, trying to knock it closer to the target marker. 
  3. Repeat 10 times, trying to knock the target ball within 2 feet of the target marker. 
  4. Keep track of how many times you hit the target ball close enough to the marker (within 2 feet). 

Round 2 

  1. Stand at marker #1 with your ball ready to throw. 
  2. Underhand toss your ball towards the target ball placed 2 feet from the marker, trying to knock it away from the marker. 
  3. Repeat 10 times, trying to knock the target ball at least 4 feet away from the marker. 
  4. Keep track of how many times you knock the target ball far enough away (at least 4 feet). 

Scoring: 

  • Round 1: Knocking target ball within 2 feet of marker = 1 point
  • Round 2: Knocking target ball at least 4 feet away from the marker = 1 point
  • Total Score = Round 1 Score + Round 2
