What are we doing? How effectively can we perform a front balance arabesque en releve?

Challenge Instructions

Where should we do it? Any open space, indoors or outdoors 

What do we need? 

  • 2 Rhythmic Gymnastics clubs 
  • If you do not have rhythmic gymnastics clubs, you can substitute with a wooden kitchen spoon or a flyswatter 
  • Timer 

How do we do it? 

  • Right arm is full extended 
    • Club rotating horizonatally over top of arm 
  • Left arm is bent, elbow high with club crossing in front chest. 
  • While rotating the clubs, balance on left leg on high toe (relevé) with right leg extended straight in front, toe pointed.  
  • The body must remain motionless during the balance and the clubs must rotate during the entire time the balance is held.  
  • Hold for 5 seconds 
  •  
  • Scoring 
    • Leg height 
      • Front raised leg is ankle high = 2 points 
      • Front raised leg is knee high = 3 points 
      • Front raised leg is waist high = 5 points 
        • Pick the points that best describes your held position 
    • Club spin 
      • Rotating the clubs without them contacting the body = 5 points
